A food manufacturer in Williamsport, PA is seeking an nurse to maintain the health and well-being of facility employees. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver compassionate nursing care, administer medications, conduct health assessments, and implement preventive measures to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and safety. You will work closely with our production team, supervisors, and safety personnel to promote a healthy work environment while adhering to food safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care and support to employees in accordance with established protocols, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Administer medications, injections, and treatments as prescribed by authorized healthcare professionals.
- Perform health assessments, including vital sign monitoring, and document findings accurately.
- Conduct pre-employment and periodic medical examinations to ensure employee fitness for duty.
- Collaborate with supervisors and safety personnel to identify and mitigate health and safety risks in the food production environment.
- Monitor and respond to work-related injuries or illnesses, providing immediate first aid and referring employees for further medical evaluation if necessary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and training programs specific to the food production industry.
- Conduct health and hygiene inspections, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and promoting proper personal hygiene practices.
- Educate employees on safe food handling practices, including proper hand hygiene, sanitation procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Collaborate with external healthcare providers and specialists to coordinate employee healthcare, rehabilitation, and return-to-work plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including injury reports, treatment plans, and incident documentation.
- Stay informed about current healthcare practices, infection control measures, and food safety regulations to ensure compliance and enhance job performance.
- Participate in emergency response drills and provide guidance and support during critical incidents or accidents.
- Provide guidance and training to employees regarding health and wellness promotion, including nutrition, exercise, and stress management.
Qualifications:
- Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license issued by the relevant licensing authority.
- Proven experience as an LVN in a similar industrial or food production environment is highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety practices, including hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Proficiency in administering medications, treatments, and first aid in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with employees, supervisors, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, particularly during emergency situations.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage medical records, conduct health assessments, and implement health promotion initiatives.
- Familiarity with relevant medical equipment and supplies used in a food production setting.
- Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to occupational health, safety, and food production.
